The tour

The department appears a little sterile right now. The halls are spotless and the walls are clutter-free. The rooms are quiet and the lights are off, but that will change in  a couple weeks. The photos below give a little insight into what the Graphic Design and Communications Department at Bismarck State College looks like.

The production area has changed a little bit since I went through this program about 19 years ago. At one time this space housed a small press as well as more area to do the physical, rather than digital, work.

One thing that hasn’t changed much is the crusty looking spray booth. It’s covered with remnants of glue from mounting projects with spray glue. The frosted monster keeps glue particles out of lungs and away from surrounding surfaces.

Around the corner is another Mac Lab. The tower-style Macs have a more industrial fee.

I’m new here and I still have a few questions that need to be answered. I’m interested in know why there is a package of sandpaper in the Mac lab.

My new home is yet to be labeled. The name beside the door is all business, although it does not completely fit my personality.

My name is Production.

A look inside my office. I’m getting more settled in and soon it will feel like a second home. Luckily I have great neighbors. I’m hoping the giant printer is able to find a new home at some point.

One good sign in the department is the dirty keyboard. Most of the world would probably see it differently, but to me that dirt shows that they have been used.

Dirty keys are a good sign.

Last, but not least, here I am in my office – a self portrait with Photobooth.
